Hajj Festival on January 11

THE Colombo Grand Mosque has announced that it has been decided to commence the Islamic month of Zul Hijja 1426 from the evening of Sunday, 1st January 2006 and consequently celebrate the Hajj Festival on Wednesday, January 11 2006 corresponding to the 10th of Zul Hijja 1426 Hijri.

Nazushan Hassen, General Secretary of the Colombo Grand Mosque stated in a press release that information was received with reliable evidence of sighting the new moon in several parts of Sri Lanka on 1st January 2006 evening.

The Colombo Grand Mosque wishes to remind the Muslims that the recital of Thakbir will commence from the Fajir prayers of 9th Zul Hijja, Tuesday 10th January 2006 and end on 13th Zul Hijja, Saturday 14th January 2006 at Asar (evening).
