Rohana Sri Lanka Open Golf Champ, veteran Nandasena Perera runner-up

The four day Sri Lanka Open Golf Championship played over 4 rounds
with 18 holes each on a par 71, was brought to a successful close
yesterday at the Royal Colombo Golf Club - where Anura Rohana, the
professional golfer lived upto his reputation and true to form, after
having a gross total of 205 in the previous days, had a 4 under par 67
to score 272 and, win a handsome trophy and an elaborate golf bag, on
being 2005 Sri Lanka open golf champion.
Riding the crest of a victorious wave, Rohana was seen in a sporting
gesture gifting the golf bag he won to the winner of the hole-in-one, M.
Arumugam.
Veteran golfer and past champion, Nandasena Perera, carded 2 under
par 69 to have 215 at the close of third day to improve his position to
5th place. On the 4th round in the final day Nandasena again had a 2
under par 69 to have a even 284, to be runner-up to displace his son
Mithum Perera to 5th place.
K. Prabahakaran who closed even on 213 on the third day had one over
par 72 to have a gross of 285, one over par to take the third place. In
the fourth place was J.M.D. Indika, with a score of 286, whilst the 5th
position was tied with Mithum Perera and J.J. Kumar having a gross of
288 each.
