New soccer pool on Jan. 7

The Football Federation has decided to hold a selection trial to form a new national pool. This decision was arrived at on Wednesday when the national pool was distanced after their dismal performance recently in Pakistan.

The selections will be made on January 7 at the Reid Avenue, Sports Ministry Grounds.

Selectors Col. C.S. Fernando, Asoka Ravindra, Clement de Silva. A. Devendra, Saboor Mohideen along with coach Sampath Perera will select around 50 players. The players in the under-23 pool too will be considered for selection.

All leading clubs and leagues are requested to send three of their leading players for trials. The selectors names were approved by the Ministry of Sports.
