Buddhist discussion
Ven. Talalle Chandakitthi Thera will deliver a sermon at Dayawansa
Jayakody New Book Centre, Ven. S. Mahinda Mawatha, Maradana on January
03, 2006 at 5 p.m. A discussion on Buddhism will take place preceding
the sermon at 3.30 p.m. under the patronage of Chanuka Vidanapathirana
to coincide with the launching of the Dhamma book 'Deviyo Ehi Wediyaha'
(God descended) the latest work of Damayanthi Jayakody.
Krishnamurti talk
A recorded public talk delivered by the late Indian philosopher J.
Krishnamurti on 'At the end of sorrow is passion' will be replayed at
the Krishnamurti Study Centre, Duwa Road, Beddagana, Kotte on Sunday at
10.30 a.m.
Garden show
A Garden show organised by the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention
Center (SLECC) will be held from January 13 to 15 at the convetion
center.
The garden show will bring together all product and supportive
service providers creating an atmosphere of a local and trade market in
Sri Lanka.
The show will consist of over 109 stalls.
The event is sponsored by Hayleys (Pvt) Ltd.
Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Colombo Law Society will be held on
February 11 at 9 a.m. at the High Court of Colombo.
Nominations to the Committee will be received by the Secretary or the
Assistant Secretary of the Society, between 12.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m.
from January 16 to 20 at the Office of the Colombo Law Society in the
former Bar Association Building, 129, Hulftsdorp Street, Colombo 12.
Resolutions should be in writing and reach the Secretary on or before
January 24, 2006.
Meditation programme
A special inter-religious meditation programme to pray for those who
died and console all affected in the tsunami and also to mark one year
after the tsunami will be held at St. Mary's Church, Yatiyantota on
December 30 from 3.30 p.m. followed by Christmas Carols under the theme
"Peace to our Land".
This programme has been organised by the Parish Council of St. Mary's
Church, Yatiyantota in collaboration with Caritas Sri Lanka - SEDEC and
Savumia Youth Foundation.
Chaired by Rev. Fr. Piyal Fernando, the Parish Priest of the Church,
Minister Prof. Tissa Vatharana will be the Chief Guest. |
