Soil conservation programme

A soil conservation program has been launched by the Coconut
Cultivation Board in Hambantota district. Those who possess coconut
plantation lands in extent of five acres will be paid a subsidy of Rs.
100,000.
These subsidy recipients have to setup a Rainwater Harvesting Storage
tank to store water for use during the drought.
At the initial stage ten/five acre coconut cultivation owners will be
allowed this Rs. 100,000 subsidy and at the moment three coconut
cultivators in the district have been provided with this subsidy R.M.
