Soil conservation programme

A soil conservation program has been launched by the Coconut Cultivation Board in Hambantota district. Those who possess coconut plantation lands in extent of five acres will be paid a subsidy of Rs. 100,000.

These subsidy recipients have to setup a Rainwater Harvesting Storage tank to store water for use during the drought.

At the initial stage ten/five acre coconut cultivation owners will be allowed this Rs. 100,000 subsidy and at the moment three coconut cultivators in the district have been provided with this subsidy R.M. Buddhadasa said.
