Houses for the poorest of the poor

Housing and Construction Minister Ferial Ashraff has taken action to implement a new housing development programme to provide houses to the poorest of the poor.

This is carried out on the Mahinda Chintanaya concept to revive creativity and traditional values for the development process of Third World countries.

The poorest of the poor will benefit by this new concept.

The Ministry will select 200 beneficiaries among 20 districts as 10 families from each district. Construction will be carried out improving their families' talents, skills and using human and natural resources of the area.

The Government will provide Rs. 50,000 financial aid and roofing material.

Poor families will be selected based on Central Bank data.
