Ministry refutes alleged travel restrictions for foreigners

The Defence Ministry has drawn its attention to certain media reports that attributed to travel restrictions allegedly on foreign nationals working for various Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the North and East, Joint Operation Headquarters release said.

The Ministry denies having placed any such travel restrictions for foreigners who have been accredited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and are working in the North and East in cleared or un-cleared areas.

The release said it is regretted that certain media are deliberately trying to create embarrassment by distorting and misinterpreting facts related to their travel to un-cleared areas. All those who want assistance are requested to contact the Ministry.
