Eagle tops insurance sector in CRS and Good Governance Awards
Eagle Insurance surpassed its previous performance at the Annual
Report Awards this year by winning three awards. One was the award for
the Best Annual Report and Accounts in the Insurance Sector category.
In addition to this, Eagle became the first runner up for overall
Best Corporate Governance Disclosure as well as the third runner up for
overall Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Reporting.
By winning the award for the Best Corporate Annual Report and
Accounts in the Insurance sector for the 12th successive year, Eagle
continues to dominate the Insurance sector winning the top award every
year. It also endorses Eagle's commitment towards reporting business
performance much beyond financial numbers, mainly in compliance with
accounting standards, legal requirements, good governance, CSR,
timeliness, clarity and consistency.
This is in keeping with the criteria laid down by the Institute of
Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL), which conducts this annual
competition.
"The company's statement of accounts have clearly and consistently
been in compliance with statutory requirements and best accounting
practice standards," a company spokesman said referring to its ability
to win the coveted award year after year. Eagle's comprehensive coverage
of its activities on Corporate Social Responsibility earned the Third
Runner-up Award in the overall category. This is not the first time the
company has been recognised for CSR.
The Company has already been hailed as one of the Best Corporate
Citizens in Sri Lanka by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce for the second
successive year. Eagle vied with leading corporates for the award given
to organisations which promote and practise ethnically and socially
responsible behaviour and are currently practising CSR. |
