Transparency of NGOs will build confidence among masses - Ven. Prof. Bellanwila Wimalarathana Thera

"Transparency of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOS) will build confidence among the people" said Ven. Professor Bellanwila Wimalarathana Thera, Chancellor, Sri Jayawardenapura University at a ceremony held recently at Sri Shashthrananda Pirivena, Dehiwala to hand over Life Insurance policies and exercise books to 500 Dhamma School Students in the Dehiwala area and to felicitate P. Udaya Perera, a reputed businessman in the area who has conducted a massive blood donation camp in Dehiwala, on Poson full moon day consecutively for 14 years.

Speaking further the Ven. Thera said that the Pragna Study Circle has rendered a yoeman service to the student populace in the Dehiwala and Mt. Lavinia areas by conducting English and Japanese language classes free of charge. Their annual Sadaham Publications released on Vesak Poya day helped to disseminate Dharma among devotees.

Further, appreciating the services rendered by them Ven. Thera urged the PSC to conduct more educational programmes to widen the knowledge of the youth who are an asset to the nation.

The meeting presided over by Ven. Middeniye Pemananda Nayaka Thera Chief Incumbent, Piyaratharamaya was addressed by Ven. Ambewela Dhammapala Thera Chief Incumbent, Sastrananda Periven Viharaya, Ven. Maussagolle Lankananda Thera, Secretary, Sasanarakshaka Balamandalaya, Dehiwala, Dhanasiri Amaratunge Mayor, Dehiwala-Mt.Lavinia Municipal Council and A. Godwin De. Alwis - President Pragna Study Circle and several others.
