Rohana and Shafraz for Bangalore meet

ROHANA Jayaratne of Slimline Group and Shafraz Junaid left for Bangalore to represent Sri Lanka at the Enduro Motor Cross. The event was due to commence on December 14 and will continue till December 18.

Over thirty competitors from Malaysia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka are expected to compete along with Indian riders.

Event is competed by riders using bikes upto 750 cc, but the Lankan riders Junaid and Rohana will on astride 125 cc and WR 250 cc bikes.

The competitors have to complete a distance of 800 kilometres in two stages. The first stage include a 10 metre long desert stretch while the riders are to pass thorough terrains for a distance of eight kilometres.

Junaid had best timings at the Mahagastota Hill Climb 37.67 sec. and 38.63 secs. for the Browns Hill Climb at Matara to become the Best Hill Climber. Jayaratne was victorious at Katukurunda and Vjayaba Super Cross on his WR 250 cc bike.

These two riders are being sponsored for the event by Gerard Ragunathan and Dian Gomes of Slimline Group of Companies. (BP)
