Tenth international conference on Sri Lanka studies at Kelaniya
University
THE international conference on Sri Lanka studies will be held from
today to December 18 in Sociology Faculty at Kelaniya University.
This Conference is to be inaugurated by Education Minister Susil
Premajayantha today at 9 a.m. This year's theme of the conference, is
Sri Lanka after 500 years of Western Colonization and Future
Perspectives.
Organised by the Sociology Faculty, a large number of scholars from
local and foreign countries are expected to participate. 40 foreign
researchers from 14 countries are expected to participate.
Head of the Sociology Department of Kelaniya University Dr. Sunanda
Maddumabandara and the Manager of the organising committee of the
conference said conference at the Department of Government Information
that over 250 papers have been submitted.
This International conference is a bi-annual meeting and was held in
many countries, such as United States, United Kingdom, France and
Australia.
Dr. K. Karunathilake, Head of Sociology Department and the
coordinator said this was the first time that a large number of papers
are presented in an international level Studies Conference. |
