Fashion Designer Of The Year - next Monday

TICKETS for the Fashion Designer Of The Year are selling fast and are available at Singer Mega Showrooms Nugegoda, Mount Lavinia and Duplication Road and also at Ramzi's Salon at D.S.Senananayaka Mawatha Borella. Remaining tickets if any, will be available at the entrance to the BMICH Auditorium on the day of the show. That's Monday the 19th.

THE grand showing which is due to grace the catwalk at the BMICH main auditorium the 19th has many attractions to its programme under the direction of Chula Nanayakkara Ariyaratne who besides handling the choreography is also presenting a special fashion extravaganza of her own designs which was shown in Malaysia recently.

Two Sri Lankan models who have been working as professional ramp models overseas have already arrived here to appear in the fashion show together with a bevy of local models that will walk the ramp on Monday.

Madhusha Chandratileke who live and works in Perth together with Chandi Perera from Sydney where she works as a photo model will be a part of the attraction when they appear on Chula's 'Bold And Beautiful' segment.

In conversation with the Daily News Ramzi Rahaman who is handling the hair and make-up of the entire show said that he is also doing a special segment comprising hair fashions and body painting on that day.

Ramzi further added that all the current top models are participating in the main show for which he has planned some exquisite styling and make-up.

There are surprises for the spectators too according to Chula. The best dressed Lady and Teenager will be picked by a special panel of judges from amongst the audience that evening. Besides that there is a special prize awaiting the most smartly clad guy who attends the function.

The show which is in memory of the late Sujatha Jayawardena will have the trophy in honour of her memory. The Late Sujatha Jayawardena besides being a prominent personality and a leading social worker was also an exponent in traditional Sri Lankan dance forms during her time.

The Fashion Designer Of The Year competition will have each competitor designing for 4 different segments such as Office wear, Casual wear, Evening wear and the Sari. There are 10 contestants including 2 young men who are planning to become career designers in the future.

Leading jewellery designer Mallika Hemachandra is bringing out a special collection of her jewellery designs that will be shown by models during the `Bold and the Beautiful' show.
