Demonstration

The National Movement Against Terrorism will hold a demonstration today in front of office of the European Union in Sri Lanka, Colombo demanding the union to impose a full ban on the LTTE as against the current temporary ban.

The Movement's Coordinating Secretary Palitha Wickremeratne said that the EU's current ban only restricts travelling of LTTE cadres in their countries, and it was not conducive to prevent their other activities such as collecting money for their terrorist organisations and arms deals.

The demonstration has been organised against terrorism, to oppose killings of civilians by the LTTE and also to protest against their human rights violations in the form of recruiting under age children for war and cold blooded killings they carry out notwithstanding the Ceasefire Agreement, said Wickremeratne.

The demonstration will start today at 2.30 pm with protestors marching from Vihara Mahadevi Park to the EU office. Wickremeratne said that the National Movement Against Terrorism had asked other anti-terrorist organisations in the country and their members to join their protest.
