British schools help tsunami-affected schools

Twelve schools in England have raised funds to help an equal number of schools in the tsunami-affected areas. Already computers, computer accessories, library books and library furniture have been gifted to 10 schools in the Trincomalee, Ampara, Matara and Galle districts.

Two more schools in the Batticaloa district will get their gift within the next few days. The schools here were identified by the Ministry of Education.

The funds amounting to Rs. 2.7 million were channelled through Hope for Children, the British Charity which is working in Sri Lanka and the distribution was facilitated by partner agencies of the Charity in the respective districts.
