ICIA 2005 begins tomorrow
The International Conference on Information and Automation (ICIA
2005) will be held from December 15-18 at the BMICH Colombo.
Researchers, scientists from the countries such as the USA, Japan,
Canada Germany, China, India Spain Australia, Mexico, and Sweden are
excepted to reveal their latest inventions in the Electrical, Electronic
and Telecommunication Engineering fields.
The opening day is dedicated primarily to disseminate knowledge to
the local society by means of three parallel workshops on the themes -
of Disaster Management, A Networked Society and Tele-Presence, and,
Intelligent Systems.
UN experts, Military Representatives, University professors and
successful Corporate Heads will be the resource persons. A scholarship
scheme has been introduced for local University students.
From the second day onwards, the conference will take place on the
themes of Robotics and Control, A Wired society and Tele-presence, and
Industrial Automation and Modern Civilisation for the three days
respectively.
Prof. Mo Jamshidi of the United State Department of Energy, Prof.
Clarence De Silva of the University of British Columbia (Canada), Prof.
Toshio Fukuda of Nagoya University (Japan) and Prof. Suran Gunathilake
of Bodymetrics (UK) will chair the conference.
Foreign delegates, local scientists including Deans of Engineering
Faculties and their Vice-Chancellors, the UGC Officials, the IESL
President and Heads of Scientific Institutions and event Sponsors will
participate in the inauguration ceremony to be held on December 16.
Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion Minister Rohitha
Bogollagama will be the guest of honour.
The ICIA 2005 will become a platform for local researchers to present
their work in front of a high profile foreign community, which in turn
will build the self confidence in marching to a globalised scientific
