Sri Pada season begins tomorrow

Conducting the statue of Deity Sumana Saman and Devabharana in keeping with rituals to the Sri Pada Maluwa to commence the Sri Pada pilgrimage season this year will take place tomorrow.

The motorcade carrying the sacred objects will leave today from Galpottawala Rajamaha Viharaya, Ratnapura and will reach Nallatanniya via Maskeliya at night. The procession will leave from Nallatanniya on foot and reach the Sri Pada Uda Maluwa early Thursday, Poya Day.

After offering Buddha poojas and performing other rituals, the pilgrimage will commence for the season.
