Maddumarala awarded 'Vayamba Sahitthya Keerthi' title
Writer Rohana Maddumarala of Maligawatta, Mahawewa, was awarded the
prestigious title "Vayamba Sahitthya Keerthi" at the North Western Arts
Festival, 2005, held at Kuliyapitiya Town Hall, recently.
Rohana Maddumarala who has authored 17 literary pieces including
classics, children's stories and novels was awarded this title in
recognition of his invaluable service to literature over several years.
He previously won the award for Literary Arts at the Puttalam
District Literary Festival held in the year 1998.
He was honoured by the bestowal of the "Vayamba Sahitthya Keerthi"
Award for producing the book "Past History of Puttalam District, its
Culture and Folklore" which was entered for the Classics Manuscripts
Competition of the Vayamba Arts Festival, 2005.
Rohana Maddumarala is an old boy of Kudawewa Government School, St.
Xavier's College, Marawila and Nalanda College, Colombo. He is a
graduate of the Colombo University and holds a Diploma in Writing and
Mass Media from the Sri Jayawardenapura University, Kotte. |
