Dr. Sunil Jayasekara new ANCL Chairman

Dr. K. Sunil Jayasekara has been appointed the new Chairman and Managing Director of Associated Newspapers of Ceylon (ANCL) Ltd. A research scientist, Mr. Jayasekara has held many posts in the State sector where his expertise was much sought after.

He held the posts of Chairman Tea Research Board and Coconut Cultivation Board. He has also been Director Plantations of Chilaw Plantations and Soil Scientist at the Coconut Research Institute. Mr. Jayasekara holds a Chemistry Honours from the Peradeniya University with a Second Class Upper Division.

He also has a Phd from University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia C.Chem, MI.Chem and completed a two year MBA Degree programme at the Post Graduate Institute of Management at the Sri Jayawardenapura University.

Mr. Jayasekara also has to his credit 56 Research-General Publications & Communications and was the recipient of a National Invention Award (1994) from the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission for inventing the Rainmeter (Automatic Rain Gauge). Prior to his new post he was director at ANCL.
