Watawala heads BoI

Prof. Lakshman R Watawala, has been appointed as the Chairman and Director General of the Board of Investment (BoI).

He was the former Chairman and Director General of Greater Colombo Economic Commission in 1991 and also a former Chairman of People's Bank and People's Merchant Bank, State Mining and Minerals Development Corporation and the Ceylon Leather Products Corporation.

He is currently, President of Sri Lanka Korea Economic Cooperation committee and committee Member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

Educated at S. Thomas' College Mount Lavinia, he was also the President Association of Certified Management and Accountants (ACCA) - Sri Lanka and president of the institute of Charted Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICA) and Past President - Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka.

The board members of the BoI are: Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala, Chairman/Director General, Bandula Perera, Bsc (Hons) Additional Director General, L. Kumara Gamage - Senior Advisor to the Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion, Dammika Perera, a leading hotelier and business leader and Channa Palansuriya, Chairman/CEO of Orit Apparels (Pvt) Ltd., a leading apparel exporter.
