Japan to honour Deshabandu Tilak de Zoysa

The Government of Japan on November 3rd announced the conferment of 'The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon' on Tilak de Zoysa of Sri Lanka in recognition of his untiring efforts to promote the friendly and cultural relations between Japan and Sri Lanka. De Zoysa was also awarded the 'Deshabandu' Presidential Award by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga on November 14, 2005.

The conferment ceremony will take place on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the official residence of the Japanese Ambassador at No. 177, Inner Flower Road, Colombo 3. (Adjoining Prime Minister's office).

Ambassador of Japan Akio Suda, will preside over at the conferment ceremony and present the prestigious decoration to de Zoysa, amidst a gathering of distinguished invitees.
