Another group of grads confirmes as Samurdhi Managers

A batch of 78 graduates, recruited to the Sri Lanka Samurdhi Authority (SLSA) as Samurdhi Managers under the Government's Graduate Employment Scheme with a view to further strengthen the poverty alleviation programmes received their appointment letters from Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi at a ceremony held at SLSA auditorium recently.

The SLSA has already given employment to 450 graduates as Samurdhi Managers under this scheme implemented by the UPFA Government.

These Managers are attached to the Samurdhi Federations established in each Divisional Secretariat division. These 78 new graduates will be appointed to fill the existing vacancies of Samurdhi Managers in several districts.

The Minister addressing the ceremony said; had the UPFA Government not come into power, providing jobs to these unemployed graduates would have been a dream.

The Government firmly believes that affording due recognition and opportunities to the country's intellectuals are its key responsibilities.

She said the graduates acquired sound education through the money of the country's poor. It is a great injustice if these graduates do not attempt to work towards giving the benefits of the national wealth to the country's poor community.

"Their duties should not restrict to their official duties. They should consider it as honourable service and utilise all their talents towards poverty eradication in the country," the Minister said.
