UK Buddhist Centre project to provide houses for tsunami hit
THE Sri Saddhatissa International Buddhist Centre of Kingsbury, UK
has launched a project to provide houses to 20 tsunami affected families
in the Southern province.
The foundation laying ceremony for this housing project built at
Walahanduwa Estate, Galle was held recently.
The Tsunami Housing Reconstruction unit of the Urban Development and
Water Supply Ministry said these houses are built under a programme
funded by Sri Lankans in Kingsbury under the auspices of Ven. Galayaye
Piyadassi Nayake Thera, Viharadhipati, Sri Saddhatissa International
Buddhist Centre, UK.
Rs. 25 million has been allocated for this project and 10 houses will
be completed before December 26 to be handed over to the beneficiaries,
according to Ven. Piyadassi thera. |
