Logistics Giant SDV invests in Air Link in Sri Lanka
SDV International Logistics have appointed SDV Air Link Private Ltd
Sri Lanka for their operations. Local Shareholder for the company is DSI
(D. Samson Industries) Group.
Formerly a joint venture between Global Airfreight International of
Singapore and the Air Link division of the MSAS Group, Air Link Colombo
has become part of the SWG Logistics Group of the USA.
Air Link Colombo established itself as a leading player in the Sri
Lanka to USA airfreight sector and also diversified into sea freight
clearing and forwarding with a prestigious customer list.
In January 2005, following the takeover of SWG Logistics by the SDV
International Logistics, SDV Air Link (Private) Ltd was registered as a
limited liability company in Sri Lanka, in June 1979. Its name then was
Air Link Global (Colombo) Limited.
Air Link Colombo was one of the first international freight
forwarders in Sri Lanka. Air Link is now a member of the SDV
International Logistics which is a leading worldwide group, specialised
in international freight forwarding, transportation and logistics.
Of French origin and now operating in 88 countries with 15,000
employees, SDV International Logistics belong to the Bollore Group,
which employs 33,000 people worldwide.
The SDV International Logistics now has an extensive coverage in the
Indian subcontinent through its takeover of the SWG Logistics/ Air Link
network. The coverage comprises of 20 offices in 16 cities in India as
well as joint ventures in Dhaka, Chittagong and Katmandu. |
