This partnership will no doubt be of immense benefit to our clients in the Middle East, because 40 percent of Middle East employees are in the Sri Lanka travels market. It would also benefit to passengers in UK, Australia, Tokoyo and USA.

Our intention is to provide better facilities, improve customer service levels and offer value for money to our customers using the strengths of both SriLankan Cargo and Trico Maritime," Head of Cargo at SriLankan Nalin Rodrigo, said.

"This partnership will synergies the strengths of SriLankan Cargo and the Trico Maritime. With the expanding of this network, we will have a better distribution network with all the Trico outlets in the Gulf and with direct flights to almost all Gulf destinations on Sri Lanka," Rodrigo said.

Trico Maritime has branches in the U.A.E, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Australia, the UK, Italy, Canada and Hong Kong.

The partnership will also facilitate the movement of large amounts of unaccompanied baggage that Sri Lankan workers in the Middle East send back home.

Sri Lankan Cargo has flights to every major destination in the Middle East, most of them direct and many of them on daily frequencies.

Trico will be transferring this cargo from the SriLankan cargo Centre at the Bandaranaike International Airport, in a bonded truck to its warehouse in Kotahena, and delivering the goods to customers after completing all documentation and customer clearance.

Trico staff in the Gulf will be trained in SriLankan Cargo's customer service techniques and the use of Skychain, SriLankan Cargo's fully automated system for the management of cargo logistics.

Trico will offer reduced handling and warehouse rates and the facility will be publicised through Trico's own radio station in the UAE and through Trico's own newspaper "Madaperadiga" which will be distributed to all Gulf-bound passengers on SriLankan.
