New postage stamps for Christmas

The Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Posts will issue two new postage stamps in the denomination of Rs. 5 and Rs. 30, souvenir sheet, and Christmas greeting card on December 3 to mark Christmas 2005.

These stamps have been designed by Pulasthi Ediriweera.

The official first day cancellation stamps will take place at the Jusevaz Church, Galgamuwa, on this day at 11 a.m. with the participation of Posts, Telecommunications and Rural Economic Development Minister D. M. Jayaratne, Foreign Employment Development Minister and Deputy Minister of Posts, Telecommunications, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Plantation Minister and Deputy Minister of Rural Economic Development, former Minister of Christian Affairs, Milroy S. Fernando, Indigenous Medicine Minister and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Tissa Karaliyadda, and several other invitees.
