Lanka center point between India and Pakistan - Minister Bogollagama
WITH the Free Trade Agreements working well with India and Pakistan
we want to make Sri Lanka the Center Point between the two countries
said Minister Rohitha Bogollagama in New Delhi.
The Minister said addressing a galaxy of top business leaders from
India and the rest of the world at the Sri Lanka session of the World
Economic Forum India Summit.
The summit held every year since 1986 attracts over 1000 delegates.
Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath, Minister of Finance
Mr.Palaniappan Chidambaram addressed the forum with Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh addressed the closing sessions on the 29th.
Minister Bogollagama went on to say that the Government of Mahinda
Rajapakse would continue with the existing policy framework. "There is
continuity of policy in Sri Lanka," he said.
The institutional framework the including the Board of Investment
will be fully utilized to pursuit our goals. Bureaucracy in institutions
will be eliminated he said. Credibility of all Government agencies will
be a main area of concentration.
He further said that the country would go along with the
International norms and standards. We have to discharge the Intellectual
property piracy said the Minister.
Reasoning out his special consideration to attend the Delhi summit
Minister Bogollagama said that India has always been a close partner and
a friend of Sri Lanka.
At a time when world business leaders gather in India he thought it
fit to share some of Sri Lankan experiences with them. The Minister went
on to say that even after the Tsunami devastated the country Sri Lanka
has registered a 6% growth in the economy.
