W.B. Ganegala re-appointed Media Ministry Secretary

W.B. Ganegala has been re-appointed as Secretary to the Ministry of Media and Information by President Mahinda Rajapakse. He was also appointed as Acting Chairman, ANCL.

Ganegala, an economics graduate of the University of Colombo, is an experienced Sri Lanka Administrative Service Officer who has held a number of key posts in the Government service.

He started his career as a banker at the National Savings Bank, where he worked from 1973 to 1980. He was appointed as Assistant Government Agent, Matale in January 1986.

He has served as a deputy director of the Department of Small Industries and Director of the National Design Centre.

He became a Senior Assistant Secretary to the President in 1997 and later, Additional Secretary in November 2001. He served as the Chief of Staff of the President from February 2003 to April 2004.

He has participated in a number of international fora representing Sri Lanka. He has also been a member of Presidential delegations to several countries.
