Former SC Judge Ramanathan honoured

Former Supreme Court Judge P. Ramanathan was honoured by awarding the
title of 'Desamanya' recently.
Judge Ramanathan was educated at St. Joseph's College, Colombo.
He is a graduate, a Barrister-at-Law and a Bencher of Gray's Inn.
He has served in the Attorney General's Department. Thereafter
functioned as a Judge of the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme
Court. He is a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at the
Hague.
He was a former Governor of the Western Province, at present
Chancellor of the Uva-Wellassa University and is a President of the
Medico Legal Association. He is also the President of British Scholars'
Association and the Rotary Club.
Judge Ramanathan is a descendant of Sir Ponnambalam Ramanathan and a
Trustee of the Ponnambalavaneswara Temple in Colombo.
His wife Manohari is a Deputy Legal Draftsman in the Legal
Draftsman's Department of the Ministry of Justice. |
