The Ministry of Industries and Self Employment Promotion together
with Industrial Development Board (IDB), Textile Department and National
Crafts Council has organised a Alavi Salpila 2005 from December 21 to 24
at the Vihara Maha Devi Udyanaya.
IDB, Textile Department and National Craft Council will organise the
participation of the industrialists at the event.
General Manager of IDB L.A. Kalukapuarachchi said the event is held
for the festive season where most of the consumers do their shopping.
There will be around 100 stalls and nearly 50 SMEs will participate
through the IDB.
This year's event will comprise processed food stalls, soft toys,
Ayurvedic products and interior decorating items.
There was a good response from the SMEs attached to the IDB and most
of them have already bought their stalls. We would like to invite other
manufacturers who want to promote their products during this season,
Kalukapuarachchi said. This event will provide market opportunities for
manufacturers and also provide a chance to explore the advantages that
they could be had from the IDB.
IDB will provide technical assistance for industrialists who are
attached to them. Although we are lacking in providing funds for these
industrialists we are now exploring the possibilities on this issue with
the SME bank he said.
A senior official of the Textile Department said that they are in
process of selecting participants for the event. Industrialists in the
textile industry are keen to participate in the fair, he said. |
