'Magic of Sri Lanka' from British publisher

A new title from international publisher New Holland will help accelerate the development of tourism in Sri Lanka as a destination, which goes beyond beaches.

Traditionally Sri Lanka was seen as primarily a beach destination for holiday-makers from Europe, but, in fact, the island has a cultural and biological diversity more akin to that of an entire continent. The Magic of Sri Lanka, a new title in the successful series by New Holland will help position Sri Lanka as a highly diverse destination with vast ancient metropolises, big game and breathtaking highland scenery.

New Holland who have offices in London, Sydney, Cape Town and Auckland have already published titles for Singapore, Thailand, Costa Rica, Malaysia, Borneo and The Philippines, to name just a few.

Managing Director of New Holland (UK), John Beaufoy sees the interest in Sri Lanka by the international travel press remaining buoyant: 'Over the last few years we have seen many features and articles on Sri Lanka.

The book has sections of the key cultural sites, the highlands and wildlife. According to Gareth Jones, the editor, it departed from other photographic books in giving more prominence to the cultural and wildlife sites in the interior at the expense of the beaches.
