Please let me go home - Polls Chief
IN A moving end to yesterday's proceedings at the Elections
Secretariat, Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake urged incoming President
Mahinda Rajapakse to permit him to retire.
Dissanayake, who claimed he had worked four years past the retirement
age, said it was time to call it a day.
"I have only one request to the new President. Please let me go
home," he said, adding that he needed to enjoy a more leisurely pace of
life in retirement.
Dissanayake unsuccessfully sought legal action to compel the
authorities to retire him several years ago. |
