National Business Excellence Awards - 2005
THE National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka a leading Trade
Chambers in the country will hold the "National Business Excellence
Awards 2005" on Tuesday, November 22 at the Colombo Hilton.
National Business Excellence Awards is an annual award competition to
recognize business enterprises which have demonstrated excellence in
business whilst contributing to the economic development of the country,
states in a press release issued by Lal de Alwis, the Chairman of the
organizing committee.
Business enterprises that contributed to the economic progress of the
country by way of achieving realized growth, creating capacity for
economic growth and employment generation, building sustainable market
competitiveness and adopting the best practices and business excellence
will be recognized.
In addition to the sectoral award categories there are three main
awards of Gold, Silver and Bronze for overall winners.
The sectors that will be awarded Agriculture, Livestock, Mining,
Quarrying and Fisheries, Processing, Manufacturing industries and
Engineering.
Evaluation criteria are global reach, realized growth, knowledge
integration, technological investment capacity building, sustainability,
block buster performance, performance based management, Corporate
Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Advisory committee includes Asite D.B. Talwatte, President, Institute
of Chartered Accountants, Ramal Jasinghe, Chief Executive Officer, Asian
Alliance Insurance Co. and Prasantha Abeykoon, Chairman of Management
Frontiers.
Third stage will be the final selection by the panel of judges. The
panel consist of highly reputed professionals in the country which
include Prof. Gunapala Nanayakkara, Director, PGIM, Deshamanya C.P. de
Silva, former Chairman, Aitken Spence & Co. Ltd, Lanka Orix Leasing Co.
Ltd., Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and The Employees' Federation of Sri
Lanka, Eraj Wijesinghe, Chairman, Colombo Stock Exchange, Group
Chairman/Managing Director, Bartleet Co. Ltd, Ismail Radwan, Senior
Private Sector Development Specialist, World Bank and Prof. Lakshman
Watawala, Deputy Chairman, Singapore Informatics Computer Institute. |
