A leader par excellence
 

THIS is a very fitting occasion for me to write about her entry into national level politics. That was a time when Sri Lanka was undergoing innumerable difficulties and in fact the country was at cross roads. In 1994, when Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga became the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and then after a short period of three months became the President of Sri Lanka, the country was drifting towards instability, both economically and socially.
