Four Janatha Mandapas have been set up in four D.S. areas in Hambantota district. The Katuwana Janatha Mandapa was capable of putting an end to the closure of Katuwana hospital. This was brought to the notice of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Deputy Minister of Urban Development and Water Supply Mahinda Amaraweera.

The Deputy Minister promised to give an ambulance to the Katuwana hospital.

A colossal sum of money has been allocated for the supply of water to Tissamaharama but the project still remains at the planning stage. The Janatha Mandapa will intervene in this and make it a reality.

Steps will be taken by the Tangalle Janatha Mandapa to cultivate a paddy field to the extent of hundreds of acres which was barren for several decades with the intervention of the Janatha Mandapa.
