Mano Tittawella retires from public service

Senior Advisor to President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and Senior Director General in the President's Office, Mano Tittawella will resign from his post from November 30.

Tittawella, who is also the Chairman/CEO of the Strategic Enterprise Management Agency and Chairman of the Task Force on Rebuilding the Nation has expressed his desire to resign from these posts as well, a release from the President's Office said yesterday.

He will continue to function until a suitable successor is identified by the incoming President and until an orderly transition takes place.

Tittawella had informed the President of his intention to leave the public service in 2004, but was persuaded to stay on for one more year, particularly to help with the tsunami reconstruction.
