SLT named official communications provider for poll
SRI LANKA Telecom, the nations premier telecommunications provider,
has been named the official communications service provider for the
Presidential Election 2005, by the Elections Commissioner, Dayananda
Dissanayake.
SLT will provide over 450 fixed telephone lines in district counting
centers all over the island including Jaffna, Batticaloa, Ampara and
Trincomalee which will facilitate convenient accessibility and
connectivity during polling.
Chief Operation Officer, SLT, G. S. P. Rodrigo, said that two
counting centers in Colombo will be provided with PABX services and the
Election Secretariat in Rajagiriya will be connected with telephone,
data and internet facilities.
In addition, SLT will provide data services for all media
organisations covering the Presidential Elections.
Chief Marketing Officer, SLT, Kapila Chandrasena, said that SLTs
extensive coverage and proven reliability and quality in service will
enable the Elections Commission to be fully geared to meet the demands
of the communication required during this critical period throughout the
country.
SLT has also provided these services to the Commissioner in past
elections as well. |
