Janashakthi Insurance (JICL) the first Insurance Company in Sri Lanka to be awarded the ISO 9001: 2000 international quality accreditation for its Life Operations, has now been awarded with the same accreditation for General Insurance Operations as well thus becoming the first and only insurer in Sri Lanka to adapt its operational procedures and systems for the continual improvement of its Quality Management System for both life and general insurance.

ISO 9001: 2000 certification is awarded to companies that meet with the highest Quality Management Standards stipulated by the International Standards Organisation.

Managing Director/CEO of JICL Chandra Schaffter commenting on these industry first achievements of the company said that Janashakthi was able to meet the stringent quality measures adopted by ISO due to the successful integration and co-working of Life and General Operational Divisions with the other support service Divisions such as Marketing, IT, Human Resource Management, Finance, Legal, Administration, Human Resource Development and Training. The employees of the company are periodically sent on Quality Management Auditor training courses and Lead Auditor courses.

Schaffter said that the success behind company being able to deliver far superior customer centric approach is its employees.

"I take this opportunity to thank all our employees at all levels of the company for demonstrating their dedication, hard work and enthusiasm in maintaining internationally accepted service standard levels, thus ensuring a far superior service to their customers," Schaffter said.

The Accreditation Auditors, Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQi) UK, says that ISO is based on 8 Quality Management Principles that can help an organisation achieve service excellence and leadership edge with improved performance.
