Sir Cyril de Zoysa rendered yeoman service towards Buddhism

'Sir Cyril de Zoysa has rendered a yeoman service to protect Buddhasasana even during the period of British.

It was due to his devoted efforts that the Kalutara Bodhi was set up to propergate Buddhadhamma and today Kalutara Bodhi has become most venerated religious place in Sri Lanka, said Ven. Pooja Malegoda Nanda thera, the Chief Sangha Nayaka of Bentara Walalavita Dekoralaya and the chief incumbent of Pusparamaya - Malegoda delivering on Anusasana at the 109th commemorative meeting of Sir Cyril de Zoyza held at Kalutara Bodhi premises.

Ajith de Zoysa president of Bodhi Trust of Kalutara garlanded the Sir Cyril's statue.

Delivering the Anusasana, the Nayaka Thera said that Sir Cyril de Zoysa was a great religious person and he accepted the teachings of Lord Buddha and followed his footsteps.

"Today Kalutara Bodhi is a Buddhist centre, where thousands of people worship not only the Buddhists but by others when they pass Kalutara Bodhi", he said.

Sir Cyril de Zoysa was a great religious leader and rendered a great service in the field of education too. He led on exemplary life in society that everyone should follow his footsteps to build a decent society in the country, he said.

Indradasa Hettiarachchi a member of the Kalutara Bodhi Trust, also spoke.

R.M.C. Bandaranaike, the Manager of Kalutara Bodhi and several others participated in the religious ceremony.
