France honours Lankan

Dr. Jacques Soulie, Director of Alliance francaise de Kandy and Dr. Mark Amerasinghe, former President, a member of Alliance francaise de Kandy, were honoured by the French Government by bestowing the Decoration of "Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes Academiques", on Dr. Jacques Soulie and "Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Artes des Lettres" on Dr. Mark Amerasinghe.

The ceremony was held at Alliance francaise de Kandy, Peradeniya Road recently and the decoration was presented by the Ambassador for France in Sri Lanka and Maldives, His Excellency Monsieur Jean Bernard de Vaivre.

These decorations are given to those who have exemplarily contributed their skills to cultural and educational fields and to the development of art, literature and co-operation between France and Sri Lanka.
