Land Rover showroom to open in Kandy

Sri Lanka's Land Rover service station and showroom is among the best in the region and the United Kingdom management has decided to invest more in Sri Lanka.

Sheran Fernando, CEO Frontier Automotive (Pvt) Ltd.

According to Sheran Fernando CEO Frontier Automotive (Pvt) Ltd, sole agents for the Lanka Rover range in Sri Lanka since August 2003, they are hoping to open a showroom and service centre in Kandy next year.

He said that their Service Centre is linked to United Kingdom and any fault could be detected and rectified on line.

He said that Land Rover vehicles introduced in 1948 are very hardy and 70 over percent of them are still running.

The workshop

The main reason for this is the availability of spare parts even for vehicles manufactured in 1948. "In Sri Lanka too we are in a position to refurbish old Land Rovers."

Defender, Freelander, Discovery, Range Rover and Range Rover Sport are the five models that have been introduced to Sri Lanka mainly with the top end market in mind. Defender jeeps are also used by the three armed forces and the Police here.

The Colombo showroom is also equipped with a outdoor test drive centre. (SS)
