Dressage competition November 2005

THE Sri Lanka Equestrian Association (FEI affiliate - world body for equestrian sports), the national federation for equestrian sports is organizing the first officially recognised dressage competition in Sri Lanka.

Dressage at its best is harmonious, beautiful and artistic, a true partnership between horse and rider as they complete a test of a series of movements on a 20ft x 40ft arena.

Riders will be marked on their ability to communicate effectively and clearly their intentions with their mount within the allocated time.

Since its inception the national body has had a significant impact in the promotion and increase of equestrian activity and interest in the island.

It has already organised numerous beach races, horse shows and endurance rides over the past few years and has plans to promote equestrian sports to facilitate Sri Lankans to enter the international stage.

This event will commence on November 15 (Tuesday), at 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., at the Premadasa Riding School (11/12, Melder Place, Nugegoda) with a fellowship at the completion with the prize distribution and distribution of certificates.

SLEA has a number of equestrian events to highlight the oncoming year, initiating with an endurance race in Thissamaharama on the 10th February 2006, followed by a horse show, beach derby, more dressage events and show jumping demonstrations over the course of the year.
