Hafiz Marikar, Chief de Mission

Hafiz Marikar has been appointed Chief de Mission of the Sri Lanka football team for their short tour of Thailand from November 5 where they will play three friendly matches against leading sides.

Marikar is no stranger to the sports field. He is a popular sports promoter and a senior city father of the historic city of Kandy.

A famous figure in the hill country, he was educated at St. Sylvester's College, where he excelled in sports and later for Kandy. He has helped many sportsmen, in the field of football, cricket, rugger, hockey, boxing, tennis, cue sports and motor racing.

He has also served in most of the Sports Association, District and National level and toured widely with sports teams as chief de mission, manager and official.
