Special Rapporteur

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka recognising the right of every citizen to vote, freely engage in political activities and the right to free and fair election under the Constitution and the international human rights norms may observe the Presidential Elections to ensure that State officials will perform duties and responsibilities assigned to them in an equitable manner.

The Commission has appointed a Special Rapporteur to oversee activities of State officials in relations to the Presidential Election.

The Commission is entertaining complaints against State officials or police officers that neglect or do not act or overstep the duties assigned to them under the election law or any other law relating to the Presidential election.

Complaints can be made on 0112689064. Complaints can be made to Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka regional offices at Kandy, Badulla, Matara, Anuradhapura, Amparai, Kalmunai, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Vavunia and Jaffna.
