Police on mastermind's trail in Meedin killing

A special Police team attached to the Western Province, North probing the killing of Military Intelligence Corp Lt. Col. T. Rizi Meedin yesterday despatched a high powered team to Trincomalee to trace the 'mastermind' behind the killing.

The Special Police team deployed on the direction of Western Province North DIG Asoka Wijetilleke is trying to ascertain the motive for the killing and the identity of the persons who were alleged to have travelled with Meedin on the day of the incident.

According to the investigations Meedin was shot dead with a 9mm pistol near his house in Kiribathgoda on early hours on Sunday, October 30.

The Special Police team also had questioned at length the four persons who were taken into custody immediately after the incident.
