Five LTTEers killed in Karuna attack

Five LTTE cadres were killed when members allegedly of the Karuna group opened fire on a Tiger mini camp in Kattamurichchankulam in the Welikanda area early yesterday.

According to reports, Wanni LTTE cadres in the camp were taken by surprise by their assailants. The mini camp was later captured by the Karuna fighters who took away the supplies and weapons in it.

The mini camp is 25 kilometres South West of Welikanda.

Over 15 Wanni cadres were killed during the past fortnight alone in stepped up attacks by the Karuna faction in the LTTE controlled areas of the East.
