SAARC Business Conclave in Delhi
"SAARC Business Leaders Conclave on South Asia Regional Integration
and Growth" will be held on November 17 and 18, in New Delhi India.
The two-day event is being organised by India's apex Chamber
Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is the only Chamber of
Commerce in the SAARC region, which is officially recognised by SAARC.
FICCI, along with six other Apex Chambers from SAARC countries is the
promoter of SCCI.
World Bank has agreed to support this Conclave as a "Knowledge
Partner". South Asian countries have drawn up a comprehensive agenda for
promoting intra-regional economic cooperation. Even while the South
Asian Government's move towards creating the enabling framework and
aligning their trade regimes for the eventual creation of a South Asian
Economic Union, it is evident that the private sector will have to drive
this agenda.
SAARC Business Leaders Conclave is an attempt by the private sector
of SAARC towards realising the aspiration of South Asian Economic
Integration.
The Conclave will bring together on one-platform networks of
business, diplomatic and developmental community across South Asia for
achieving higher economic growth and reducing poverty.
Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, will inaugurate the
First SAARC Business Leaders Conclave, to be held at Vigyan Bhawan, New
Delhi, on November 17. |
