SLT launches CDMA from Anuradhapura

Sri Lanka Telecom announced the launch of the SLT CDMA programme, in keeping with their promise of delivering connectivity to the rural areas of the country.

SLT will be launching this CDMA roll-out in Anuradhapura. This launch marks an important chapter in the history of telecommunications in Sri Lanka as SLT is utilising the CDMA based network to pioneer telecommunications to call corners of the country. Beginning with Anuradhapura, SLT hopes to launch CDMA in Kurunegala followed by launches in a series of rural areas hoping to cover the entire island by the end of the year.

The launch of the SLT CDMA programme is a significant event in the SLT corporate calendar. SLT is proud to penetrate areas which earlier had no access to proper communication. With the SLT CDMA programme most people will be able to obtain phones without any delay.

SLT will invest Rs. 1.5 billion for the CDMA roll outs and has tied up with ZTE China to build the communication network.
