Yogarajan clarifies

A news item has been published today in the front page of Dinamina and the 4th page of the Daily News stating that Arumugam Thondaman has left the country and that he had a misunderstanding with the Presidential candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe and that this misunderstanding was due to some posters where I, R. Yogarajan had been included, states Ceylon Workers Congress Vice President R. Yogarajan.

There is no truth at all in this news item. No posters have been done with Thondaman and Ranil Wickremesinghe and the question of my photograph being included does not arise. Arumugam Thondaman had no occasion to visit Sirikotha during the last 2 years and his protesting at Sirikotha is a total fabrication.

In fact Thondaman left for India after returning from a Leader's meeting in Matale with me and there is absolutely no misunderstanding between us. Thondaman left for India on Sunday (23) to visit his brother-in-law who is undergoing an operation and returned Monday night and proceeded to the Nuwara Eliya district to carry on the election propaganda work for the victory of Ranil Wickremesinghe.

This news item has been given such prominence with malicious intent planning to undermine the campaign of Ranil Wickremesinghe and creating a non-existent rift within the CWC. This may be due to the fear of the power of the CWC in influencing the result of the forthcoming Presidential Election.
