Nirasha, Kavinda top seeds at Fingara squash tourney

NIRASHA Guruge and Kavinda Cooray are the women's and men's open top seeds at the Fingara Open Squash Championship which will commence today at the Fingara Town & Country Club at Boralesgamuwa.

Fingara Club once again has come forward to sponsor this tournament with the assistance from the Sri Lanka Squash Federation.

Over 175 participants will vie for the 19 categories during this tournament and the finals will be held on October 22. The organisers are expected to give cash awards for Open Men's and Women's winners and runners up for the first time.

The winner's of both men's and women's events will receive Rs. 10,000 cash award while runners up of the men's and women's open will receive Rs. 5,000.

The events to be worked off this tournament are boys and girls under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, Open men's and women's, men's over 35, over 45, women's over 35 and Novices men's and women's.

Apart from Nirasha and Kavinda, Tehani Guruge, Vidushi Gurunada, Randima Ranaweera, Damindi Udangawa, Harin Perera, Yasir Issadeen, Eranga Alwis, Chakranga Rajapaksha are the other top ranked players in this tournament.
