Fingara open squash championships from October 15 to 22

FOR the first time men's over 55 event and women's over 35 event has been included for the Fingara Town and Country Club open squash championship which is scheduled to be held from October 15 to 22 at the club premises in Boralesgamuwa.

According to President of the Sri Lanka Squash Federation Colonel Rohan Anthonisz the closing date of the entries is October 10 for this Fingara Championship. To give more opportunities for the beginners we have decided to conduct men's and women's novices events, said the SLSF President.

Meanwhile former squash stars Yasmin Zarook, Shivanthi Kotage, Padmini Samarasinghe, Disna Ranjani are expected to play in the women's over 35 events. Wing Commander Ranjan Samarasinghe, Colonel Sarath Jayawardena are the only players of men's over 55 event.

In addition to the main events boys and girls under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19 and open men's and women's events will be conducted. Cash awards of Rupees 10,000 for men's and women's singles winners will be awarded while runners-up will receive Rupees five thousand each.
